Victorian Wax Seal Cube
$785.00
A very collectable 19th-century six sided brass wax seal cube. Each of the six sides is a different seal motto including:
- An image of a fork and knife with the French phrase, "A Votre Service", translating to 'At Your Service'.
- An image that is a nod to the rebus puzzle, with the letters "U O Me" above a sealed envelope.
- An image of an accountant balancing a ledger book with the words Balancing ACCts, meaning 'Balancing Accounts'
- A fisherman with a fishing rod - 'I drop this line in hopes'
- A quill - 'The tongue of the absent'
- A hand pressing a seal in wax - 'I hope to make a good impression'.
This is a very solid antique piece with signs of wear consistent with age. It is an excellent piece to add to any collection.
